Who Are We?

“A good traveller has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving.” (Lao Tzu)

About Us
We are Paul and Debbie from the UK. We met many years ago while serving in the Royal Navy and working at the same submarine base.
We didn’t immediately hit it off. We appeared to have very different personalities, but as the saying goes, opposites attract. As we got to know each other, we realised we had much in common. Two vital interests were dogs and travel.
After leaving the Navy, we spent several years working together, renovating houses, running a motorhome rental business and having separate jobs. We knew we worked well together, so living in a small space was never an issue.
We’ve been together for a long time. At the time of writing this post, we had celebrated our 26th Wedding Anniversary. Usually, we both forget the date, but somehow, we both remembered this year.
Most anniversaries have a meaning and a gift linked to them, and the 26th year is called the Picture Anniversary.
Moving into a small ex-ambulance doesn’t leave much space for art. The answer? A Wolf pyrographed onto a tabletop. We are thrilled with the results, and it works brilliantly.

Meet the Paws

Twig and Rolo are the Paws of the team. They provide much of the fun on our adventures.

When Did We Start Travelling Long-Term?
In September 2018, we bought a narrowboat and spent time travelling between the boat and a motorhome. We had a wonderful time, enjoying winter on the boat while exploring the canal network. It was challenging with soggy dogs and muddy towpaths, but the quiet waterways made up for it.
During the summer, we travelled across the Channel, exploring Europe.
Until Covid struck, we felt our travels wouldn’t be the same for a while, and we couldn’t justify keeping our two travel homes. It was a tough decision, but ultimately, our passion lay with adventures to foreign lands. So Boudica, the narrowboat, went, with plans to take extended travels in our trusty motorhome.
What Does the Next Chapter Hold?
With so much free time during the lockdowns, we dreamed of places to explore. We had two nagging thoughts in the back of our minds. The first niggle, was that our most recent trips to Sweden and Portugal had given us a taste of venturing off the beaten track, which our trusty Rapido motorhome wasn’t built for. The second problem was Brexit. Like it or not, our travel plans would have to allow for the 90 days allowed in the Schengen Area, these two thoughts convinced us to buy the Wolf. So, a new chapter begins.
